In the famous television series The Adventures of Superman, George Reeves (1914-1959) portrayed Clark Kent, "a mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper" called the "Daily Planet". But when evil surfaced in Metropolis, he became Superman, the crime-fighting hero who used his "powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men" to fight "a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way". The series was in production from 1951 through 1957 and consisted of 104 episodes. During the first 26 episodes, which aired in 1952, Phyllis Coates starred as Lois Lane, an ace newspaper reporter secretly in love with Superman. However, when production resumed in 1953, Noel Neill took over the role of the independent and feisty reporter who, in an attempt to get the scoop before Clark Kent, constantly finds herself in trouble and needing the "Man of Steel" to rescue her. Relying upon Superman to help solve the city's major crimes was Metropolis police Inspector William Henderson, portrayed by Robert Shayne. Four items. Framed in Gallery of History style: 37¼x28.
