Born in Paris in 1952, Philippe Chamouard has always tried to
separate himself from all influences and schools. This is why, in 1987, he decided to destroy all of his earlier compositions! This new recording features the composer's Eighth Symphony, a panoramic work with infinite landscapes. In the third movement a bagpipe rings out to the tune of Amazing Grace, played beautifully by soloist François Marchal. Similarly, the Poème du Vent(Poem of the Wind invites a naturalistic meditation. These works are
presented by the Rouen Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by the eminent Claude Brendel.
