This listing is for a very rare film memorabilia. It is an original issue German 1919 advance poster of "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (dir. Robert Wiene) sized at 37" x 55" (94cm x 140 cm). The poster is in fine condition from Studio Decla and was Japanese paper-backed sometime in the 1930s. The artists are Erich Stahl and Otto Arpke, with both of their surnames appearing clearly on the bottom left hand corner of the poster. The artwork is a perfect example of the expressionist style of World War I. This poster would have appeal to both modern art expressionists or motion picture collectors. (Please excuse the white flash from our camera in the images) This is the only known copy of this style. No other "Caligari" German large posters have ever been for sale. The original German Metropolis sold recently for $800,000 in a private sale and there are only 4 known copies. I am sure this "Caligari" piece is the only one now.
