Avid Pro Tools HDX 2 with HD I/O 16x16 Analog
The Pro Tools HDX 2 system with 16 channel Analog enables customers to mix bigger, more complex productions, with the rock-solid performance and stability that Pro Tools|HD customers have come to expect. This new system represents a milestone in Avid’s development of DSP-accelerated hardware, delivering up to 5x more DSP per card, over a thousand dB of additional headroom, and up to 4x the track counts and 2x the I/O compared to its Pro Tools|HD Accel predecessor. And as customers’ needs grow, the system can be scaled to increase track counts, power, and I/O, using up to three Pro Tools|HDX cards and multiple Pro Tools HD Series interfaces.
With this addition to the Pro Tools|HD family, there are now two powerful system choices. Customers can choose the Pro Tools|HD Native system if they need the advanced workflows and sound quality of Pro Tools HD, and want to leverage their host computer to get the best performance and lowest latency. Or customers can choose the new flagship DSP-accelerated Pro Tools|HDX system if they require consistent peak performance and near-zero latency to handle extremely large and complex productions. From February 22 to 28, 1948, the world's first ever jazz festival was held in Nice, France. Organized by HUGUES PANASSIE, President of Hot Club de France, the festival demonstrated Europe's recovery from World War II and helped popularize the new bop style of jazz in France. Especially renowned signers here include Belgian-born gypsy Jean Baptise "DJANGO" REINHARDT (1910-1953). Originally a violinist, he is best remembered for his jazz and swing performances on the acoustic guitar (His missing fingers induced him to develop a unique fingering style). In the 1930s, he performed with STEPHANE GRAPPELLI in the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Although he couldn't read music, Reinhardt created many influential jazz compositions. His style influenced musicians in many genres, from jazz to rock to country music. Reinhardt is rare in any form. French jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli (1908-1997), founder of that historic all-string jazz ensemble at the Hot Club, resumed his internationally famous career... The Gospel According to the Other Mary
A timely, controversial work of grand proportions, The Gospel According To The Other Mary is a new, full-scale re-imagining of the Bach oratorio from composer John Adams and iconoclast writer/director Peter Sellars.
Adams and Sellars previous collaborations included Nixon In China, the most-performed American opera since Gershwins Porgy and Bess, and Dr. Atomic, an opera about the invention of the atomic bomb.
Focusing on the oft marginalized perspectives of Mary Magdalene and Martha, The Gospel According To The Other Mary sets Biblical characters and events, including the resurrection of Lazarus and the passion of Christ, in a powerfully political, contemporary light.
As with the nativity oratorio El Nino (a response to Handels Messiah), and the opera Dr. Atomic, the libretto is been assembled by Peter Sellars, who has interwoven events from the New and Old Testaments with poetry reflecting themes of faith and liberation from the 12th Century mystic Hildegard von Bingen, to the 20th Century Mexican feminist poet Rosario Castellanos.
This World Premiere recording, featuring the original cast, was made in Disney Hall, Los Angeles, at performances staged by Peter Sellars - with soloists, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
A champion of contemporary music and social engagement through art, Gustavo Dudamel commissioned The Gospel…, together with the LA Phil, as part of a long-standing creative relationship with John Adams.
This important DG release marks the 5th Anniversary of Gustavo Dudamels appointment as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the 10th Anniversary of the LA Phils home, Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Packaging: the 2 CD set will come in a digi-sleeve with a 100 page booklet. It will contain an introduction by the composer and a synopsis by Peter Sellars in English; plus the libretto in the original languages (English and Spanish) with English translations of the Spanish texts.
